Considering the popularity of the MCU, the demand for in-game cosmetics has increased over time. All of this can be traced back to a singular event in the metaverse known as the Nexus War. Everything about this season also has a Marvel theme.

The Marvel saga seems to have no end in Fortnite

In 2020, during an interview with This Week in Marvel, Donald Mustard suggested his big plans to fill the metaverse with MCU content. During the conversation, he had this to say:

“We call this season (Chapter 2 Season 4) Nexus War because this is just the beginning. This is the start of many things we’ve been planning for years with this Marvel integration. This is not the end. It’s just the beginning.”

As promised, the Nexus War is well and truly kicking things off in Fortnite. In the following months, more and more MCU assets were introduced in the game. Currently, 52 Marvel characters appear in the metaverse. According to leaks and theories, more are on the way.

Mustard went on to say:

“Even now, we’re planning what some of the cool big things we’re going to do next year and the year after. I have so many favorite characters and it’s going to take years to bring them into this world. “

Because the characters and storylines have to be integrated organically, the build takes time. That said, things are coming to fruition this year.

At the end of September 2022, the six issues of Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War should have been released. Based on speculation, Zero War is a continuation of the original Nexus War.

Although it may seem meaningless at first, the storyline of the comic is the same as the game. According to leaker iFireMonkey, the main stories are presented in comics to help create narratives. If the rumors are true, another perfect season of Marvel is upon us.

All this is just the tip of the iceberg. Based on how Epic works, a dozen new Marvel outfits are expected to be added to the game in the coming months. The first one has already been added via Crew. We can expect to see more when Chapter 3 Season 4 goes live.

Is it good to have more Marvel links for Fortnite?

Although good or bad is subjective, what can be said for sure is the hype factor. As the MCU builds towards its next phase, there is much anticipation and anticipation from the franchise. If some of this can be transferred to the game and presented correctly, it will also bring more revenue and new players.

On that note, Fortnite relies more on collaborations to tell the story each time, which dilutes some of the originality. Then again, with how endless and open the Metaverse is, who’s to say if the MCU isn’t part of Fortnite in the grand scheme of things?

In general, while Epic Games took its time with crossovers and did things smoothly, not everyone was happy with the many crossovers. Many believe it’s time for Epic Games to take a break and focus on bona fide original content that doesn’t include collaborations.

Considering how things have changed since the Nexus War, Marvel has become a must-have in the game. Like it or not, as long as the MCU exists, it will be featured in Fortnite all the time.
