The metaverse: kezako?
The metaverse is a project taken from the science fiction book “The Virtual Samurai” by Neal Stephenson, published in 1992. It is a world where the boundaries of the real and the virtual merge, where navigation between the two you liquid universe. Accessible through glasses or a helmet in virtual reality, you can shape your own world, create your environment, your avatar, to interact with others, to work there … ”The metaverse has potentially helping to open up access to new. creative, social and economic opportunities, ”Facebook said in its statement.
So the social network will move to 3D, an immersive experience beyond the structure of the game. However, this pharaonic project remained in the experimental phase… hence this large recruitment.
The beginning of the metaverse
This “computer platform of the future” has already experienced experiments that are closer to the result desired by Mark Zuckerberg, creator of Facebook. Since 2003, Second Life software has integrated games and social networks with instant messaging and virtual currency. Users can interact with each other, build their universe, go to the mall, buy lots of land … Even if forgotten, almost 600,000 users are still active in this virtual world, according to BFMTV earlier 2018.
Recently, the Fortnite online game also hastened to break even by offering concerts by rapper Travis Scott and pop singer Ariana Grande, in the form of avatars. This week, Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya also appeared on the platform, announcing the release of their joint film “Dune”.

“Our Next Chapter”
He says that in itself, the metaverse is the future of Facebook: “our next chapter is the transition from a social media company to a metaverse company” wrote Mark Zuckerberg last July in his Facebook account. In 2014, he laid the first stone in his project by buying the company Oculus VR, which specializes in making virtual reality headsets. In August 2021, the Horizon Workroom was presented to the general public. This remote meeting platform is based on virtual reality, allowing you to communicate and work as if in the presence of your colleagues. And all this, thanks to the Oculus Quest 2 headset of course!
While it is not yet known which countries and what profiles Facebook will search for growth in this metaverse, the company has determined that 10,000 positions have already been occupied for the same purpose, in the United States. United.
