Bitten by dogs in the Sarthe: the man who saved the teenager testifies

It was the body marked with so many bandages that Kévin Pousse opened his door.

This resident of Noyen-sur-Sarthe (Sarthe) intervened at the end of the afternoon, avenue du Maine, to defend a teenager attacked in the middle of the road by three dogs, American Staffordshire Terriers, Saturday August 20, 2022.

Severely affected, especially in the lower body, he had difficulty moving a chair to sit. “I was attacked everywhere, except my face and back,” he said.

“At night, I saw the scene again”

For the rest of his life, he would bear the scars of this shocking event.

I left the hospital in the evening from Saturday to Sunday. They gave me 11 stitches. Every day, a nurse comes to your home, and that is, for 15 days.

The wounds were also psychological, although, after four days, he said he was better. “The first night was difficult. I saw the scene again,” he said.

“I make dogs come to me”

“I cried blood”

Despite the bites, he managed to get up to grab his son’s bicycle to serve as a shield. “That’s when they got scared and left. »

Firefighters and police arrived at the scene.

I stayed there for a while, while we disinfected the wounds, took pictures…

It is especially at the level of the ribs, heels and lower legs that the resident is the most severely affected.

The mayor of the town, Jean-Louis Morice, pointed out that these dogs went through a blood test “compared to anger. That was the priority.”

Euthanasia: the procedure is still ongoing

Rest in peace Kévin who will soon celebrate his 30th birthday. “I have to take care of my injuries to recover,” he added. Before repeating one last time, “I did that just to help this little girl”.

The young man hopes to euthanize the three dogs. “Because once they taste blood, it’s over,” he said.

A procedure has been initiated in this direction by the mayor. This Wednesday, August 24, the city councilor pointed out that the work is still ongoing.

Now we need the observation of veterinarians. I expect to receive it in a dozen days.
